From Square One

It’s been said that writing is a lonely road, a solo adventure. That may be true, but authors do get help along the way. They get the help they need by way of editors, agents, publishing companies and cover artists. Currently, I do not have an agent nor a publishing company. I do have someone who did the photos for my cover art, for both current and future book covers. (Caleb, if you are reading this, I thank you so much for the amazing work that you did!)

Now as for editor, it’s not so simple. My darling sister V is or was my editor for quite some time. As I mentioned in an earlier post, life just got in the way, therefore editing is at a standstill–almost a near impasse. Once again, I am traveling solo down a road that used to be peppered with help here and there. But fear not, for that hasn’t stopped me from trying to edit my own work!!!

Yesterday was the day I opened up the manuscript for my ‘Nocturne of Secrecy’ novella. I started with chapter one. Is it just me or is it awkward to read your own writing? I reckon its much like hearing the sound of your voice on a recording; weird and just plain embarrassing. However, I soldiered on and started to edit (for the umpteenth time) chapter one. Oh, I am not even close to being done!! But if I take it day by day, week by week, I will be much further along than if I didn’t re-start the editing process at all.

The novella has six chapters, so my thought process was to spend a month on each. But wait! It will take six months to edit and that wouldn’t even be the final one! Oh well…greatness takes time, so that is what I intend to do. If it’s less than six months, even better. We shall see!!

My Dear Followers, please stay tuned and look forward to excerpts, teasers and photos for future book covers!! Thanks for reading!!
